Canada’s largest wine bar, Vin Room welcomes dogs of all shapes and sizes (with owners in tow) to the patios of their three locations by launching a dog-friendly tasting menu, available seven days a week, all summer long.
Vin Room owner/proprietor Phoebe Fung was the first Calgary restauranteur to offer dog-friendly dining in 2017. Now the entrepreneur and dog-lover has enhanced the complimentary pooch-focused amenities to include a custom-created dining experience. “With Calgary summers being so short, I wanted to make al fresco food and drink completely guilt-free,” says Fung. “This year, dog owners don’t have to choose between unwinding over a glass of wine with human friends and hanging out with their favourite four-legged ones.”
Dog-friendly amenities at Vin Room’s Mission, West and YYC airport patios include:
- Custom dog furniture and beds
- Hydration bars
- Cleanup stations
The collaboration with Calgary-based Bon A-Pet-Treat! Bakery takes canine inclusivity to the next level with a three-course tasting menu starting with an amuse-bouche made with rye flour, free-range beef liver, pumpkin, flax seed and eggs, then ends with a “Pupsicle” dessert made with free range chicken, carrots, sweet potato, ginger and apple cider. The offerings are supplemented with homemade dog biscuits and a rotating selection of bottled “Pawsecco” in flavours including Blueberry Lavender and Pumpkin Coconut. The menu is verified safe for dogs by the Westhills Veterinary Clinic.
To launch the 2018 patio season at Vin Room West, an exclusive Summer Kick-Off Patio Paw-ty will be hosted by Fung’s beloved Pomeranian, Dom and his friends “The Bear Brothers” MAC and Bodie on Tuesday, June 19 from 6-9pm in support of PALS Therapy Pets.
$100 ticket includes:
For two-legged guests a welcome cocktail, three – 4oz. glasses of champagne (or sommelier’s choice of wine or beer), unlimited hot and cold canapés
For four-legged guests a three-course tasting menu, unlimited Pawsecco and swag bag valued at $75
Purchase tickets here. Seating is limited!
Fung is excited to continue the tradition of bringing Calgarians together to gather at Vin Room locations to enjoy vino, snacks and great company. “Last year, we unleashed a new way for dog enthusiasts and our furry friends to get social. Our staff at all Vin Room locations, Dom and I are excited to welcome the community to our patios for another beautiful Southern Alberta summer.”
