Each year, Charlottetown celebrates PEI’s shellfish industry and what was once a gathering of locals has has evolved into what is now known as the Prince Edward Island International Shellfish Festival, a four-day festival packed with culinary demos, celebrity chefs, delicious dining experiences, the best of the best potato seafood chowder and oyster shucking competitions.

A signature event as part of the PEI Fall Flavours Festival, the PEI International Shellfish Festival continues to put Prince Edward Island on the Culinary Map by showcasing indigenous foods & PEI Food Experiences and by creating new opportunities to showcase PEI Shellfish and agricultural products.

We packed our bags and headed out to Charlottetown to cheer on Chef Jinhee Lee from Foreign Concept as she was defending her title as Garland Canada’s International Chef Challenge winner 2017. The competition is an invitational and included a few of Chef Jinhee’s fellow Top Chef Canada season 6 competitors including winner, Ross Larkin from Raymonds in St. John’s, NFLD.

Chefs Darren Rogers from PARK in Montreal and Jesse Zuber from Little Grouse on the Prairie in Saskatoon went to the Sunday finals with Chef Darren taking home the $10,000 prize.
