Early wake-up call today for a few of Calgary’s favourite culinary pros as we spent the morning at Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids (BB4CK) headquarters. When Chef Duncan Ly of Foreign Concept made the call out to friends to join him and Chef Jinhee Lee to help make lunches at the 20-year old non-profit organization, it didn’t take long for friends who hold food and kids near and dear to their hearts to step up to the challenge.

The Italian Centre Shop‘s Gino Marghella, ALLOY‘s Chef Rogelio Herrera and ANJU‘s Chef Roy Oh rolled up their sleeves alongside Duncan and Jinhee helping to get 1137 lunches out the door. Each day, 40 volunteer drivers arrive by 10:30am to pick up and deliver lunches all over town by noon.

As the charity partner for Foreign Concept’s #teamjinhee Top Chef Canada viewing parties, a $10 cover charge is collected from each guest which feeds 10 hungry kids. Raffle tickets have also been sold onsite for prizes donated by our friends at Breville Canada, STAUB Canada, Medium Rare and the Italian Centre Shop.

BB4CK currently operates with a volunteer base of 400 who make and deliver sandwiches, fruit and a healthy treat to over 2000 kids each day from kitchens located throughout the city.
