From accounting student at SAIT to the top of the podium at the Canadian Culinary Championships in PEI, Chef Jinhee Lee’s path to Food Network Canada was far from conventional. In fact, she didn’t tell her family she was playing a part in Calgary’s booming culinary scene until she had been named executive chef at Raw Bar in the Hotel Arts, working alongside mentor, Chef Duncan Ly.
Today, she is executive chef at Foreign Concept, Chef Duncan Ly’s first restaurant where she cooks “food I love to eat” using seasonal local ingredients and adding Pan-Asian flair.
In April 2017, BONAFIDE was brought onboard to support Chef Jinhee in her television debut on Top Chef Canada season 6. As one of 11 competitors and the only one from Alberta, it was important for the team at Foreign Concept to show their pride and excitement for Chef Jinhee. We rounded up our tribe of professionals to start the #teamjinhee movement in time for the series premiere and raise funds for Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids.
